The Bernification Of America

BACK DURING THE 2016 ELECTION
BERNIE SANDERS AND HIS PHILOSOPHY AND PLANS WERE
DESCRIBED DEPENDING ON WHO YOU TALK TO IS CRAZY OR EXTREME OR
PIE IN THE SKY. WE NOW FIND OUT DESPITE THAT
THEY ARE EMBRACED BY PRETTY MUCH EVERY GROUP IN AMERICA. THE REASON I THINK THIS IS
SIGNIFICANT IS THAT ALREADY MORE AND MORE POLITICIANS APPEAR TO
BE TEMPLATING AT LEAST SOME OF THEIR PLATFORM ON THE IDEAS THAT
WERE GIVEN A TEST RUN DURING BERNIE SANDERS CANDIDACY. THIS IS SIGNIFICANT FOR THE
DEMOCRATIC PARTY IN GENERAL AND POTENTIALLY FOR THE FATE OF THE
WHITE HOUSE AS WELL. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT PEOPLE
THINK ABOUT HIS PLANS. WE NEED A POLITICAL REVOLUTION
TO REDISTRIBUTE THE WEALTH THAT HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM WORKING
AMERICANS, TAKE IT BACK FROM THE WEALTHY THAT HAVE BEEN DOING THE
STEALING FOR DECADES. OVERALL IT HOLDS 54% APPROVED. IN CERTAIN GROUPS THE SUPPORT IS
EVEN STRONGER. INDEPENDENCE VERY MUCH SUPPORT. THOSE WHO DIDN’T VOTE IN 2012
OVERWHELMINGLY THINK WE NEED THAT SORT OF POLITICAL
REVOLUTION. IMAGINE THE POWER OF HAVING A
PERSON GIVING ACROSS THAT MESSAGE AND BRINGING THOSE
PEOPLE BACK INTO VOTING. EVEN TEA PARTY SUPPORTERS ñ
EVANGELICALS, WHITE’S OVERALL. SUPPORT IT. I’M GOING TO
TAKE A POSITION THAT WILL BE POPULAR, I DON’T BUY THIS. I THINK PEOPLE SAY THIS BUT WHEN
THEY STEP INTO THE VOTING BOOTH, IT WAS LIKE WHEN DONALD TRUMP
WAS RUNNING, SO I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR HIM ñ THEN THEY WENT
RIGHT IN AND VOTED FOR HIM. WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THIS WEALTH
REDISTRIBUTION BY THE GOVERNMENT ñ WHEN YOU SEND OUT THAT
MESSAGE, THE MESSAGE WILL BE DESTROYED AS BEING SOCIALIST,
UN-AMERICAN, YOU NAME IT. AND THESE PEOPLE, AMERICA SPOKE
WHEN THEY VOTED FOR TRUMP. THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT VOTE FOR
THIS. THEY STILL BELIEVE IN THE
TRICKLE-DOWN THEORY. THEY ARE SUFFERING NOW FROM TAX
CUTS. FUNNY THING GOING ON IN MY
OPINION IS ALL THESE TEACHER STRIKES AND PEOPLE LIKE
EDUCATION BEING DECIMATED. THESE ARE ALL RED STATES AND
STATES THAT VOTED THAT WE DON’T WANT TAXES. THE TEACHERS OF THE ONES
PROTESTING. OTHER PEOPLE GOING TO VOTE AND
WILLING TO PAY TAXES TO HAVE GOOD SCHOOLS? THEY WILL ALWAYS
SAY YES. BUT WHEN IT ACTUALLY COMES DOWN
TO DOING IT WILL? THIS IS A PORTAL THAT WHEN YOU ASK PEOPLE
DO YOU AGREE THAT THERE SHOULD BE WEALTH DISTRIBUTION AND THE
1% HAVE ALL THE MONEY IN THE MIDDLE CLASS AND HAVE MORE, THEY
ARE LIKE YEAH, AND THEN YOU SAY WHAT WERE GOING TO HAVE TO RAISE
TAXES. BUT WHAT IF IT IS PITCHED AS
RAISING TAXES ON THE 1%? WE WILL SEE BUT SO FAR AMERICA
HAS BEEN ALLERGIC TO ANYTHING THAT HAS RAISE TAXES ON ANYBODY
EVEN WHEN IT MAKES SENSE. I REALLY SEE WHERE ALONZO IS
COMING FROM. I THINK THESE POLLS ARE FALSE
POSITIVES IN A WAY. WHEN THE VOTES COME UP, THEY
VOTE FOR LOWERED TAXES. I SEE YOUR POINT WHICH IS WE
SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED BY THIS AND MAYBE THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF
THE ELECTORATE EN MASSE BEGINNING TO CHANGE. I’M KIND OF WITH ALONZO ON THIS,
I REALLY DON’T SEE IT IN THE VOTING BOOTH. I DISAGREE FOR CERTAIN
REASONS. YOU MENTIONED THE SUPPORT ñ
THE RECENT TEXTILE HAS LIKE 26% APPROVAL RATING. PEOPLE OVERWHELMINGLY HATE IT. THAT MEANS SEVEN OR EIGHT POINTS
FOR TRUMP’S CORE SUPPORTERS DON’T SUPPORT THE TAX BILL. I THINK IN REFERENCE TO THEM
VOTING FOR TRUMP, REALISTICALLY HILLARY CLINTON IS CLOSER TO
THESE GOALS, DONALD TRUMP TRIED TO PITCH HIMSELF. I THINK SOME PEOPLE SUPPORTED
BECAUSE HE SEEMED MORE LIKELY THAN HILLARY CLINTON TO GO
AGAINST. IT’S A GOOD POINT, IT WAS A
POPULIST MESSAGE. AND HIS FRAUD ñ THEY BOUGHT IT
OR THEY HOPED FOR IT. BUT YOU ARE RIGHT, IT WAS A
POPULIST MESSAGE. SO THE PEOPLE THAT WERE SENT TO
WASHINGTON WHO DID PULL OFF THAT TAX STEAL, IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE
ROBBERY, THERE ARE REPRESENTING THE CONSTITUENCY. JOHN, I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT BUT
WHEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS, THIS ISSUE LIKE WEALTH
DISTRIBUTION, THEY CAN DESTROY IT. THEY’RE GOING TO SAY THAT NO
MATTER WHAT. BUT SEE THAT WORKFLOW. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? THAT WAY
SET A PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE. PEOPLE VOTE AGAINST THEIR OWN
INTEREST. IT WAS PROVEN IN THIS PAST
ELECTION. SO THEY VOTE AGAINST THEIR
ECONOMIC INTEREST OVER SOME SECOND AMENDMENT THING THAT WAS
NEVER SAID. LET’S TURN BRIEFLY TO- I THINK
REPUBLICANS ñ I THINK WHEN IT IS DELIVERED IT WON’T BE DELIVERED
LIKE THAT. IT WILL BE DELIVERED IN RELATION
TO PARTICULAR THINGS THAT THIS REDISTRIBUTION WILL BE FOR. LET’S TURN TO THAT AND SEE IF
THAT IS CONVINCING. SINGLE-PAYER AND FREE COLLEGE
ARE BOTH VERY POPULAR THINGS. I AGREE NOBODY WANTS THEIR TAXES
TO BE HIGHER. THEY WILL TRY TO CONVINCE YOU
THAT YOUR TAXES WILL WORK TOO. I THINK THAT IS ONE WAY TO
REASSURE REGULAR PEOPLE THAT WILL ACTUALLY HELP THEM
OUT. IT’S JUST A POSSIBILITY. WHAT YOU WANT TO TAKE FROM
THAT IS A MESSAGE THAT YOU WANT SCREAMED LOUDLY IN THIS
NEXT ELECTION CYCLE. I DON’T KNOW ñ WHEN IT COMES TO
THE LEGISLATORS THAT THEY SAID, THERE IS A DISCONNECT. THEY SHOULD’VE GONE SKI MASKS
AND GUNS. AT YOU SAY, THE COUNTRY DIDN’T
SUPPORT THIS TAX CUT. BUT THEY JUST WENT THROUGH WITH
IT BECAUSE THEY ARE A BUNCH OF RICH GUYS TAKING CARE OF OTHER
RICH GUYS. THE DISCONNECT YOU ARE TALKING
ABOUT ñ AGAIN THIS SOUNDS GREAT ñ IT IS LOBBYIST MONEY. YOU CAN TELL SOMEBODY
THAT YOUR KID ñ OR YOUR TAXES ARE GOING TO GO UP
A LITTLE BUT YOU ARE GOING TO GET HEALTHCARE AND YOUR KIDS
WILL GO TO COLLEGE FOR FREE. PEOPLE SAY THAT IS WORTH IT. BETWEEN THE LOBBYIST FOR COLLEGE
TUITION GOES TO THE CONGRESSMAN AND SAYS FREE COLLEGE? HERE’S 10 MILLION AND COLLEGE
SHOULDN’T BE FREE. THAT IS THE DISCONNECT. I HOPE PEOPLE SUPPORT THIS BUT
IT IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS LIKE HOW DO YOU ARGUE? THIS CAME UP
WHEN BERNIE WAS RUNNING. HOW DO I ARGUE WITH SOMEONE WHO IS LIKE
YOU ARE AGAINST FREE ñ WHAT IS THE DOWNSIDE? I REMEMBER ALWAYS ARGUMENT
AGAINST HIS PLAN WAS THAT TECHNICALLY THE WEALTHY WOULD
ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO IT BUT THAT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. I DON’T THINK THE KOCH BROTHERS
GRANDKIDS ARE LIKE WITH YOU I CAN GO YOU CAN GO FOR FREE. YOU CAN ONLY GO YUKON IF YOU
ARE A GREAT BASKETBALL PLAYER.

  1. I think the second gentleman is just parroting what the media tells us about what Americans think. These numbers on what Americans want are not just made up. They are based on actual surveys. "The People" did not necessarily support Trump. We need figures on who voted in that election. The people who did not like Trump OFTEN STAYED HOME because they could not bring themselves to vote for Hilary-Business-as-Usual-Clinton. And they would not, for once, be bullied into voting for the Evil of Two Lessers. It has been said again and again that a significant number of Trump voters WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR BERNIE. Weird as that may seem, we have to look at why that might be. Because they seemed to both have an anti-wealth agenda. Trump was lying, of course. But people are desperate and clutched at that possibility anyway–particularly after the Dems torpedoed Bernie so blatantly and dishonestly. There were a lot of F-you votes for Trump against the Democratic party also. (Again, a stupid, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" strategy, but Americans have bad tempers.) So just saying again and again that Americans are a bunch of Dumb-F's does not help us move forward.

  2. The people also spoke when voting for Hillary is the true cancer. Hillary is the reason America has trump today

  3. Bernie spewed pie in the sky lala fantasy land utopia bull crap – he's a con man just like the orange monster infesting the White House – only far left wing fringe morons believed his bull crap – he snowed his followers – he and his followers need to go fly a kite or pee up a rope. He and his moronic followers, just like the orange moron and his supporters, are the most dimwitted and gullible people on the planet.

  4. The problem with American Thought is this "Me, Me, Me" attitude. Some Americans will think "My kids are grown, or I don't have kids, I'm not paying for other people kids." And right there is one of the biggest issues with passing any reforming tax bill that makes people pay more taxes. Getting people to stop thinking only of themselves is a huge hurdle that our country is not ready to face as a whole. Once we can get 60% of the population to understand, we can get reform in this country. Otherwise, don't hold your breath.

  5. Anyone that believes in Trickle Down Economics needs to be forced to play Monopoly by the true rules for a week!

  6. As long as we allow the upper class to put themselves Above the Law. We will never have a true democracy. Wake up America. We live any corporate fascist plutocracy. The American Rome is falling. Your vote will not count unless you make it count. The upper-class have committed treason on the American people. We have not only the right, but the duty!, to destroy this tyranny.

  7. If we had free college for everyone it would be great. But the Republicans will use the first spring break to say this is where your tax dollars is going to a bunch of college kids getting drunk. These are the underhanded tactics used by the upper class shit fucks of America

  8. It's a simple equation….Hilary=inauthentic+no msg…Trump=inauthentic+msg….Bernie=authentic+msg—–Bernie beats trump every time, DNC rigging the elections and corperate interests paying for 'results' is the problem, not the candidates or the voters

  9. It all comes down to messaging. The public does support a lot of progressive ideas, it's just the Democrats have done such a poor job of selling it. They'll say they're for something, the Republicans will counter with "oh that's socialism!" or "oh that would cost way too much" and instead of pushing back and fighting for their position, they bow their heads and just go along with it.

  10. Even Trump voters I know liked Bernie! They were just too close minded to believe that anything could actually be that much better. We need to spread the message and educate people about his plans so by the next race people will be more informed!

  11. Which is why every tax cut is a disaster as it will never be back to what it was. Which means less revenue for the government and more money for the top 1 %.

  12. All republicans have to do to win is to show up with a bible and a gun and people will forget about healthcare, college, school etc…. So incredibly stupid…

  13. The black guy seems a little confused. The poll wasn't asking if wealth should be redistributed FROM the middle class.

  14. Cause less revenue means less money for education, healthcare and programs helping the poor. Of course if the money is spent on the military it's a waste. BUT it is a big myth that taxes is evil incarnate. Taxes is a small but very important equalizer in society. Well, it is supposed to be. But having no taxes means there will eventually not be a society and we're back to the feudal world where you kiss the rich(nobilty) pinky rings…

  15. As much as he says I think those things don't really work because its compelling to people; its because the Dems are paid not to fight back. Plus its been used soo much and there has been so much harm people are just like meh to it

  16. Rich people vote Republican, no one else can afford it; a bunch of people were duped recently, but the jigs up, and the ship will right.

  17. Are we talking about wealth or income? The two are not the same! As a middle class senior who has always lived below my means and has gradually socked away money for a comfortable retirement, I am against having my wealth redistributed to others. Most of my older relatives have also lived in modest homes and have driven old cars all their lives in order to build up a nest egg. So among us seniors, society taking our wealth is not a popular idea.

  18. I'll never forget the time Wolf Blitzer asked Bernie to his face if he was an anti-Semite. XD It should be interesting to see how the political left handles the anti-Semitism question.

  19. We need a third party lets call em the Progressive Party and have Bernie head it up. If this happens Republicans and Democrats are finished flat out!

  20. This is not a democratic republic, there is no election system, the whole thing is rigged. We are all slaves to this capitalistic nightmare. We don't need to vote, we need to burn this motherfucker down and start over.

  21. John, why are you asking Alonzo anything? I find him completely uniformed and pulling opinions out of his a _ _. And Mark, the reason you are not seeing it the voting booth is because these are people who do not vote – weren't you listening? The reason why jerks are elected is because not enough people are voting. The fewer people who vote, the more GOP candidates win….hello….I am with John and the polls. These are two much more credible sources than Mark or Alonzo….

  22. Next election i vote for Trump Again !
Just to see what happens !
Beside that he can't do us no harm from jail can he ?

  23. The ONLY thing that could possibly save America from the decrepit decaying mess that Trump has made of it is if Bernie Sanders wins the presidential election by an undeniable landslide in 2020.

  24. If you want proof that the Political Revolution is real just look to Michigan and our Democratic candidate for Attorney General! The grassroots progressives beat out the establishment Dems, money and major unions!!

  25. Socialism isn't enough. We're running out of time. Only communism can save us from ecological catastrophe and neo-fascism.

  26. Oh, I know, how about we drop the gun grabbing rhetoric? Maybe if we stopped acting like we hate guns, maybe people who don't hate guns would vote for us?

  27. They're gunna take your guns only works because the democrats are anti constitutional and are going to take your guns and you idiots are their mouthpiece selling the lie people are for taking people's guns away which if you look at bernie sanders district you will notice they have reduced such infringement on a person's right because he answers to the people who voted him in that don't want their right to keep and bear arms infringed.

  28. Populous messages from a candidate that is believable like Bernie Sanders is one thing, quite another to support populous messages from a person like Donald Trump who had a long history of unethical and fraudulent business dealings, bankruptcies, pushing the Obama birther propaganda, Central Park 5 episode, etc. I find it very hard to believe that most American voters don't have their heads squarely up their asses!… because if they didn't…We would not have the growing income inequality gap 40 years in succession!… thanks to Corporate Welfare, a huge and expensive Military Industrial Complex, extremely overpriced healthcare and pharmaceuticals, etc.

  29. Wealth distribution is for losers who can’t compete. Its like affirmitive action for socialists/communist retards that make up majority of Bernie’s supporters.

  30. I actually believe that Alonzo's argument has some merit. Progressive candidates need to brand their economic policy platforms as promoting equality of opportunity and aiming toward a fairer distribution of economic resources. And the important distinction to make is that the meaning of the word "resources" in this context is related to wealth, but is not the same as it.

  31. USA has been bought and paid for by the elite.
It is no longer for sale so if you want it back it will have to be stolen.

  32. So Hillary Clinton and the DNC rigged the Democrats Primary Election and you think the Establishment is going to let Progressives win and take over the party? Yeah right. They will do anything to keep their power.

  33. redistribution is a socialist atribute to keep everyone equal that is not what you do in belguim .your country system is also one of kapitalism it may have some socialist features but thats just to keep everybody fed but you can only grow bij working more and or harder wealth redistribution keeps everybody at the same level exept ofcourse for the elite.

  34. We've never had a politician willing to go out there and full throatedly deliver this message and that's the difference. Bernie has credibility and righteousness on this issue. Regular dems, trying to deliver this message, don't even seem like they believe in it.

A progressive message with the right messenger can deliver.

    Bernie2020

  35. America wasn't allowed to speak when they voted, we had the choice of which was the lesser evil. The lesser evil is not a choice and is not an opinion on who you would vote FOR.

  36. Libertarians were thought to be all talk on legalizing marijuana, but their votes were essential to getting it passed in many of the states that legalized it.

  37. Alonzo doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. The people spoke by voting against Hillary, more than voting for Trump. BTW, Bill Clinton was re-elected handedly after the largest tax increase in history.

  38. Our tax dollars are overwhelmingly going into the military-industrial complex and then there is the CIA who pays Bazo's umpteen $ (aren't those our tax dollars too?), I know how about the corporations that are people too and yet they pollute our public waters with lead and oil…there's enough money to fix our country it just needs redistribution

  39. Trump also won because the media gave him free coverage, blacked out Bernie and Hillary and the DNC rigged the primaries against Bernie and voters because she thought she was the "chosen" one and "we the people" did not think so – Bernie made us aware that we, as individuals, are not alone and there is strength in numbers…

  40. Don't listen to the nay sayers. If enough people wants change it will happen. History has shown this again and again. Remember when people said women will never get the vote, segregation will never end or the end of the Cold War will never happen in our lifetime.

  41. I disagree with Alonzo. I think the principles of socialism are a lot more popular in America than people think – provided you don't call it socialism.

  42. Getting voted out might not make them pay for it though. Unless the tax cuts are reversed soon they and their donors will still benefit from the cuts.

  43. Please stop discounting seniors. Some of us have been progressives for many years. Go Bernie!!!

  44. Been supporting Bernie a bit before he announced he was running for potus thanks to TYT covering him. I never saw him on the other news stations 🙁

  45. The top 1 percent pay 39 percent of taxes. The top 10 percent pay 70 percent. So it's greedy to be rich and pay the most but not greedy to want to take from someone to help yourself…

  46. Paying taxes or not wanting to pay taxes has to be correlated to wage levels. Walmart doesn't pay its workers enough for them to pay taxes, and they qualify for food stamps. We skewer the poor when we should skewer the corporations. The consequence of Bernie running for President is the multiple revelations that we do not have a democracy, we have a captured media, that the taxes we pay do not result in benefits to 95% of Americans other than the military industrial complex. Thanks for educating us, Bernie.

  47. Alonzo has it nailed. This country is RIFE with "I wants" vs "I'm totally willing to contribute to this because it will help get me what I want." Americans, by and large are selfish and lack introspection, preferring oversimplified dogma vs nuanced conversation and real, progressive change. How do you know this is so? The fact that Trump is in office: his base preferred to ignore his DECADES of fraud and his history of lies, and preferred instead to take him at his word which was, again, historically something no one should ever do. Simple, stupid motherfuckers. And now they're tripping over themselves to defend him because they don't want any of the responsibility INSTEAD of joining the conversation about what it will take to fix the cavalcade of bullshit they've brought upon us all. Alonzo is right.

  48. Re: taxes and people not willing to pay them / pay more. You need more data to tease the meaning apart here. Many are not opposed, conceptually, to taxes, but feel that there is already enough being paid and the "crooked politicians" are misappropriating this money. Look at the $80B no-questions-asked increase in military spending. Fewer still will realize that, systemically, public money is being funneled into the hands of the wealthy. While others will say to the poor. And others are just opposed to paying taxes.

  49. A tax steal! Very funny how TYT is so concerned over people rescuing their money from President Trump.

Also, local/state taxes pay for school, not federal taxes.

  50. Without price controls essentially doubling the minimum wage isn't going to do anything. Prices will simply rise to reflect the change. If we're to have a federally mandated minimum wage then it needs to be directly tied to the cost of living on a state by state basis, since 15 bucks buys a different amount of stuff in California than it does in say, West Virginia. I highly doubt the idea would ever gain any traction, the right would oppose it for the usual reasons and the left would oppose it since they could no longer make political hay from raising the minimum wage.

  51. The pessimism is not unwarranted here. There is a huge disconnect between what the people want, and what the people they elect do. It has existed like this for a long time and there are many reasons for it. The solution remains the same though – get money out of politics, and/or have people become more politically aware so that they won't vote for the same people who are not representing them.

  52. I’m with Alonzo on his cautious pessimism, I too believe that the democrats will continue to rig the system in favor of the status quo, the right will spin the message into something “ugly and Un American” , the people will become demoralized and I predict the 2018 blue wave with be an impotent splash, where the democrats will win only 10 seats in the house at best. Therefore we’ll never keep Trump in check. The republic is finished.

  53. Ignore the filth rich teat-sucking trolls. Go progressive and stick with Bernie Sanders & Friends at Election 2020

  54. The best countries to live in. What do they have in common? They are functioning democracy. So the answer is as simple as that. BETTER DEMOCRATY.

  55. Please stop saying "the people" voted for trump. He lost badly but was appointed by the electoral college despite that. That should be mentioned every time his 'victory' comes up.

  56. Raise wages start with the minimum, this will increase tax revenue without touching tax rates. A small move, not enough in itself. While they whine that wealth redistribution is evil, the rich have been redistributing Americas wealth to their own pocketbooks – monumentally hypocritical. So tax them, paybacks a b*****.

  57. It's TRUE. Many Texans who really didnt know about Bernie when he ran in the primaries here… but after the primaries they learned about him more and every one I talked to would have voted for him over Trump. But we got Hillary. And Texans will not vote for her in a majority
