想像你獨自一人在大自然中你會需要拿到一些物品 你可以從工作中得到那些物品 如果在飽餐一頓後還有時間或積蓄,那麼你可以花一些時間在製造用具上 這些用具則會增加你的產能 你遇到了另一個人,他有不同的才能和自然資源 你們兩個之間可以藉由各自做自己擅長的事來作成果交換,讓彼此更好 這也就意味著你對彼此間都很重要 在你專業領域,這些才能將不斷精進 而第三、第四人出現了 你就會只會對你認為得到最大好處的人交易 你會停止自己生產那些提供給你良好價格的商品這完全是跟據你的才能、自然資源和需要 他們也會藉由此調整方式持續不斷的調整他們的生產方式 變為富裕是由於在此生產對你專業領域的商品再以此去交換別人對你有價值的東西達成雙贏 工作干預或互相交易干涉會使得交易量下降或扭曲整組工作的協調 為了防止這種情況發生,財產的概念就能被接受了 也就是說:這大自然的部份經過你的加工後,而有權可以自由交易它 你可以選擇你持有的財產與它人共享你無法得知在這種情況下你和對方是誰在財產共享間有實質利益 除了你可以拿所擁有的去交易想要的之外也可以拿所擁有的去交易可以更容易交易到想要的東西 這是間接貿易而這在貿易便利下自然而然其中一個商品會勝過所有商品 那就是金錢 經濟活動隨時間改變,所使用的貨幣也隨時間而改變 當錢產生了,你買賣間都在相同評價水準中因此計算損益也更容易,在做任何事預期報酬也變容易 除了交易貨物之外,你還可以交易你的勞力 企業家投資勞力和商品是希望能創造利潤 勞動者賺取穩定正向的工資 商品可以租賃給其他人 租賃所要付的代價就是利息 很多人可以使用股票投資在創業專案上共享利潤與損失 保險是其中一方承受另一方的特定風險 客戶支付的公積金超過估計的平均支出 你可以提供他人產品的資訊服務 個別的消費者對於要冒多少風險在出售物的不確定性或是有多少獲得的資訊是值得的有偏好 你可以藉由購買武器和雇用其他人來保護自己 但是更基本的是,你可以增加與好人合作並且藉由建立個人聲譽來降低犯罪機會 第三方可提供仲裁和記錄貿易夥伴間行動的服務 財產所有權有利於保護自然資源以及在許多方面都有效 你必需要小心管理廢棄物以及化學物品因為如果最終侵犯造成損害他人的財產就是一種犯罪 當你擁有一種資源,接下來你就會對該資源價值有興趣 這也意味著你不只考慮當下回報率,也考慮未來的回報率同時買家也會評估未來回報率以及現在這個資產的市場價值 社會主義不是和平交易以及財產分享之下而是由中央極權強取豪奪一個區域中的所有資源 生產和貿易不再訂定所有權 所有價格反應的資訊都消失了所以怎能比較誰的生產效益更佳呢? 誰生產的產品更有價值?是否低價值的商品會被轉化為更高價值的商品? 如果有一群人非常擅長於協調勞動和生產那麼正確的處理方式會是像其他公司一樣自願提供這些服務 訴諸暴力就是默認個人福祉是沒有價值的 民主不是建立在交易和平和財產分享之下而是藉由中央集權強迫在一定區域間的人民接受安全保護和仲裁 公開投票後決定是誰制定和解釋規則 所以就會產生每個人都試圖利用國家制定規則的權利保持自身的優勢 這將驅動導致侵蝕生產自由、私有自由、貿易自由和行動自由而且還很難將其導正 複製從別人那來的想法或訊息是一種和平行為這沒有傷害他人的人身財產健全 事實上這是推動生產者創造更有利的產品最重要的方法因為他們能看出哪個有效,而其他則否同時盡力降低生產成本或者用使用新的方式或建立在新的地方 有一部份經濟學家和歷史上一些其他有關聯的跡象顯示,藉由自己或是他人,有著資本主義的思想意識 其中包括亞當‧斯密(1723-1790)、路德維克‧馮‧米塞斯(1881-1973)、弗里德里希‧海耶克(1899-1992)、艾茵‧蘭德(1905-1982)和米爾頓·弗里德曼(1912-2006) 然而這五人不是全部致力於個人權利和市場上交易那些安全、仲裁和聲譽的商品義務 事實上,他們主張以和平名義統治其他人是一個與資本主義不容的明顯矛盾
