Hi, I’m Gina, LGBT Inclusion consultant
and trainer. I’m here to share LGBT inclusion best practice with you. Let’s talk product
adaption. Do you tailor your products and services to meet the needs of LGBT consumers?
I can’t tell you how many times I have been to the gift shop to find a card for my partner,
whether it is a birthday, Christmas, anniversary and I’ve walked away empty handed. Or where
I have browsed brochures online and all the imagery is of heterosexual people and couples.
I don’t see any gay people, couples or families. What do I do? I switch off and I look somewhere
else. Or what about when I am online looking at watches/shoes/t-shirts/jumpers (you get
the idea). On the menu I can choose between men or women. The menu is defined by the Gender
Binary. What about those of us that are gender fluid? We close your page and look for someone
else that does accommodate our needs. I want you to take a look at your product offering.
Do you have any products or services that would appeal to LGBT individuals and same-sex
couples? What could you tweak with your products and services to tailor your products to meet
the LGBT communities needs? Have a think about it. As always, if I can help you with anything
around LGBT inclusion and intersectionality – be it consultancy or training for your
organisation, drop me a message. I’d be happy to have a chat with you. I’ll see
you tomorrow when I will share more best practice for LGBT inclusion. I’ll see you then. Bye
