1. Grow a food garden. The biggest use of petrol is in agriculture. Pesticides, packaging and especially transportation of food is the biggest waste of petrol. If you want to change the culture you can change your way of life. Grow a garden. Produce your own food locally. Then you're not dependant on the petrol agriculture system.

    Peace, love and understanding.

  2. I don't believe that destructive revolution is the best way to achieve lasting positive change. Destructive institutions, protected by the threat of state violence are pretty much immune to individual action or collective suffering. These institutions have integrated themselves into, and inform this culture. My responsibility as I see it, is to act according to my beliefs, to help others and to not participate in harmful activities. I'm not responsible for shutting down car culture.

  3. @videoguy604 there's no way to know, really, when the power grid will go down, but the fact is civilization is inherently unsustainable and at some point it will collapse.

    it only makes sense to me that we should prepare for it, because if it collapsed tomorrow pretty much everything on earth would die; you're right about that.

  4. @adamhawk71 your way of life requires the death of billions of minorities.

    if the car companies close, they would be better off.

    why do you hate minorities?

    why do you hate the world?

    why do you hate yourself?

  5. When I was a young girl, I tried to listen,
    But got distracted by the human race;
    Always knew I was part of a system,
    And never wanted to just take up space;

    Then came an answer I always wanted;
    Through the noise, I stumbled upon it
    A sea of faith is what I needed.
    Can't believe it took so long to see it.

    Maybe if I find it, I'll keep it
    Maybe if I say it, I'll mean it
    Praise Allah, God is One!
    Find me in that 'permanent state'.

  6. The problem is not the point at which we stop paying taxes, the problem is the sheer martial arts and strategy of war required to defend yourself from government invaders who attempt to call you an immoral person in the eyes of their system.

    We won't be free of suffering if you do not try to fight…

  7. I don't mind being killed if it means the rest of the world won't be violent…

    …actually, I think the selfish part is being so afraid of death you are unwilling to give your life for ALL other life…

    …not that this scenario would ever even present itself to a non-pacifistic-intelligent individual.

  8. Having a moderately diverse piece of plastic rot in a dump isn't as ecologically awful as media makes it out to be.

    The only real way to remove these materials from their state is allowing biodegradation over time and the ceasing of creating more, not finding some special way of fast-biodegradation…

  9. I don't find this Jensen guy all that interesting. Best part of this video is the cartoon at the start. Mindless drones teaching kids to be mindless drones. There's the beginning of tragedy.

  10. ppl don't want work, they want money, yet they dont want the money they want the things they can get from the money. I think all we want is the products of other people and the resources needed to survive. essentially;
    sharing and being able to take from the land.

    Of course I realise its not that simple to put in action from what we currently have in civilisation, as everything is centralised we want all kinds of things we shouldnt really have such easy access to. But did that make any sense?

  11. that doesnt make sense anyway, he's already screwed himself out of blowing up the dams by writing about it.

  12. what if the people's jobs are contributing to a system that is threatening the existence of life on this planet?

  13. what is this supposed to mean?

    i don't get it. derrick jensen is supposed to go blow up dams?

    then who would advocate the dams being blown up?

  14. jesus christ, how am i even answering that question?

    who is more important: employees at a gigantic corporation, or all life on this planet?

  15. so?

    disregard for humanity? disregard for humanity? the culture of civilization has a disregard for humanity. worrying about some shmuck's job instead of the fate of humanity is having disregard for humanity!

    where i come from it's customary to read author's work before mindlessly throwing straw-men together. ya dig?

  16. besides, only children are considerably more fucked up than children with siblings.

    i'm not talking about government-implemented "sustainability." at this point i'm not even talking about sustainability so much as i am talking about some ways of life that don't require constant devastation.

  17. Every morning when I awake I ask myself whether I should write or blow up a dam. I tell myself I should keep writing, though I'm not sure that's right. 18. i go to work every day. that's not very much fun.

    arguing with people online is not fun, but i feel like it is productive, if not for me, than for them.

    pretty arrogant that i don't want anything to do with meaningless time-wasters? i know you don't speak English very well – i think you should look up "arrogant."

    i see meaning in everything, even the meaningless. the reason you like meaninglessness is because you feel all life is meaningless. that is very telling. that has meaning.

  19. .. tite, so you're just here for fun? dario was right about you – you worship the meaningless.

    the biggest sin of my religion is To Waste Time.

    so, don't come round here no'mo unless you got someting real to say.

    it's impossible to see nothing in anything. in other words, there is something to see in every thing that exists.
