Community Guidelines: YouTube’s Rules of the Road (Part 1)

I’m Kelly from YouTube. Ever scratch your head about
all the various guidelines YouTube has? Ever wonder “What’s the difference
between Community Guidelines Copyright, YPP,
and Advertiser-friendly guidelines?” Have you ever had a video removed
by YouTube and you weren’t sure why? Well stick around, because
in this series of three short videos we’ll sort it all out for you. As a YouTube Creator, there are a few different sets
of guidelines and policies that are important to understand. If you just want to post videos, it’s important to know
about our YouTube Community Guidelines and basic Copyright law. If you want to make money on YouTube, there are a few more things
you should understand. Like our YouTube Partner Program policies
and our Advertiser-friendly guidelines. Ok, so let’s start with
YouTube’s Community Guidelines; a set of common-sense rules for
what is and isn’t allowed on our platform. These are mostly rules you’d expect, like “Don’t harass others
or post ultra-violent videos” but they also include
some YouTube-specific rules you might not have thought of like not posting
a bunch of repetitive comments. So definitely take time to review them. And remember, the Community Guidelines
apply to everything you do on YouTube: posting videos, comments, thumbnails…
you name it. If you do violate
our Community Guidelines, you’ll get a warning
the first time it happens. After that, if it happens again, you’ll receive
a Community Guidelines strike. But don’t worry,
strikes expire after 90 days and over 90% of Creators
never get more than 1 strike. That said, if you get 3 strikes
in a 90-day period, you’re out and your account will be terminated. If you do post something
that crosses the line, we’ll send you an email letting you know and also give you information
on how to appeal if you think a mistake was made. But, what about using
someone else’s music in your video? Would that give you
a Community Guidelines strike? No.
But it could get you a Copyright strike. Oh. So they’re different from
Community Guidelines? Yeah. You mind if I sit? Thanks. Hey. I’m Matt. And in part two of this three-part series
I’ll give you an overview of Copyright. Click this endscreen to come on over.

  1. My brother used to do youtube he only subscribes to people now I got copyright but it was an accident I did not get a strike

  2. My other Channel was terminated by YouTube . and I filled the Appeal form . for the past 4 weeks now no reply . I chatted YouTube team on tweeter and YouTube team said they will check my channel if it goes against their community guidlines, if it does not they will reinstate my channel. Up till today no reply.

Please youtube try and please review my channel please.

  3. Hi Kelly, Speaking of Community guidelines My subscribers are accusing me of breaking them and the terrible part is, not a single person has any recordings of the things I need for every holiday including my birthday. Please! Help Me!

  4. Dear YouTube. My channel got first community guideline warning with 90 days expiry after going to under review for monetization. By mistake i deleted my video so i can't go to appeal. My channel is in under review since 20 days. Please tell me that my channel will montetized with this warning condition or after 90 days expiry.?? Please answer. Thanks

  5. Why would you take away our channel it's toilet paper shoe toilet paper party give us are Channel back before I delete your channel and hack

  6. The Community Guidelines for the News Channel must be changed The news of the incident being reported to the public by accident or other circumstances, the news color is yellow on the dollar while so hard work is made the news. Now, youtube check this video in. Is there any fear of being seen? So, otherwise it should not be given a community guide line. Some report to the channel on the basis of personal enmity. Action against them is essential. Hopefully, as my channel is, I try to make the people of Kashmir aware of the world. The use of YouTube's best platform should be corrected so that the public can trust YouTube So yes people like youtube so I have to work hard to get other social media traffic to youtube then if youtube does not encourage me on my hard work then maybe i get discouraged.

  7. Hi Kelly – you need to make it VERY plain how your rules affect firearms content because how it is enforced is not how it is written with respect to the YPP
