Bemidji Community Food Shelf Announces Campaign For A New Roof

BERNIE SANDERS. >>>THE BEMIDJI COMMUNITY FOOD SHELF IS ASKING FOR THE COMMUNITY’S HELP IN RAISING 77,000 DOLLARS TO PURCHASE A NEW ROOF FOR THE BUILDING THROUGH THEIR SHELTER OUR SHELF CAMPAIGN WHICH HAS COLLECTED ABOUT 60,000 DOLLARS ALREADY. LAST SUMMER EMPLOYEES AT THE FOOD SHELF NOTICED WATER DRIPPINGS COMING FROM WINDOWS IN THE BUILDING WHICH RAISED A CONCERN. CONTRACTORS WERE THEN CALLED OUT TO THE BUILDING AND THE FOOD SHELF WAS TOLD THAT THE DRIPPINGS WERE COMING FROM A FEW LEAKS AND HOLES FROM THE ROOF’S MEMBRANE.>>WE PURCHASED THE BUILDING IN 2012, AND WHEN WE PURCHASED THE BUILDING, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ROOF WAS ADEQUATE, AND SO IT’S JUST AGED OUT. THIS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST BUILDINGS IN THE INDUSTRIAL PARK. WE — IN FACT, WE DON’T REALLY EVEN KNOW WHEN IT WAS BUILT, AND WE THINK THIS IS PROBABLY THE ORIGINAL ROOF THAT WAS ON THE BUILDING, WHEN IT WAS FIRST CONSTRUCTED, PROBABLY BACK IN THE 1980s. SO IT’S PROBABLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT FOR QUITE SOMETIME.>>YOU CAN DONATE BY GOING TO THE FOOD SHELF’S WEBSITE,
