Andrew Yang previews second round of Democratic debates

>>Chris: ‘S SUPPORTERS CALL THEMSELVES THE YANG GANG. THE CHANT POWERPOINT AT HIS RALLIES AND WERE BALL CAPS WITH MAT H ON THE FRONT FOR MAKE AMERICA THINK HARDER. JOINING US NOW FOR AN EXCLUSIVE “FOX NEWS SUNDAY” SIT DOWN, DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT OF CANDIDATE AND ENTREPRENEUR ANDREW YANG, WHO WILL BE ON THE DEBATE STAGE THIS WEEK. MR. YANG, WELCOME TO “FOX NEWS SUNDAY.”>>THANKS FOR HAVING ME COME ACROSS. IT’S A PLEASURE TO BE HERE.>>Chris: LET’S START WITH THE LATEST FOX NEWS POLL THAT CAME OUT THIS WEEK. IT SHOWS YOU TIED FOR SIXTH PLACE WITH AMY KLOBUCHAR AT 3%, 30 POINTS BEHIND JOE BIDEN, BUT RUNNING AHEAD OF CORY BOOKER AND BETO O’ROURKE AND JULIAN CASTRO. I HAVE KIND OF A GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS QUESTION, WHY DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING BETTER THAN A LOT OF BETTER-KNOWN POLITICIANS AND ON THE OTHER HAND, HOW DO YOU EVER MAKE THE BIG JUMP THAT YOU STILL HAVE TO MAKE TO GET INTO THE TOP TIER OF CANDIDATES?>>Mr. Yang: ON THE POSITIVE SIDE, AMERICA, UNFORTUNATELY, HAS LOST A LOT OF CONFIDENCE IN ITS POLITICIANS. IT’S ONE REASON WHY I’M DOING SO WELL, AND BEATING MANY SITTING SENATORS AND GOVERNORS. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE REALIZE THAT OUR GOVERNMENT IS WAY BEHIND THE CURVE IN SOLVING THE REAL PROBLEMS. WE NEED TO CATCH UP AND SPEED UP AND THEY SEE SOMEONE LIKE ME AS SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP MAKE THAT POSSIBLE. IN TERMS OF MAKING THE BIG JUMP TO CATCH UP TO JOE BIDEN AND THE OTHER LEADERS, MOST AMERICANS ARE JUST TUNING IN TO WHO’S RUNNING IN 2020. I’M STILL INTRODUCING MYSELF TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. IT’S GOING TO BE A VERY, VERY FLUID RACE OVER THE WEEKS AND MONTHS TO COME. I’M VERY CONFIDENT I’M JUST GOING TO KEEP ON CLIMBING THE BOWLS AND START CATCHING UP TO THE LEADERS VERY SOON.>>Chris: YOU SAY PEOPLE ARE JUST TUNING IN, BUT IF THEY TUNED INTO THE FIRST DEMOCRATIC DEBATE, THEY DIDN’T SEE MUCH OF ANDREW YANG. YOU ENDED UP GETTING — I HAD TO GET CHECK THIS OUT, 2 MINUTES AND 50 SECONDS TOTAL IN A TWO HOUR DEBATE, BY FAR THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TIME OF ANY OF THE DEMOCRATS IN THE TWO DEBATES. WHAT’S YOUR PLAN TO GET MORE AIRTIME THIS WEEK TO>>Mr. Yang: I GOT TO ASK TWO QUESTIONS IN TWO HOURS, WHICH CERTAINLY WAS NOT ENOUGH BUT WE ARE VERY CONFIDENT THAT THIS WEDNESDAY I’M GOING TO HAVE MUCH, MUCH MORE OF AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE MY CASE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT THE REAL CENTRAL ISSUE IS WE ARE AUTOMATING AWAY MILLIONS OF MANUFACTURING JOBS AND NO RETAIL JOBS, CALL-CENTER JOBS AND ON AND ON THROUGH THE ECONOMY AND BECAUSE OF THE POLLING SUPPORT THAT WE HAVE, I’M NOT GOING TO HAVE JUST NEXT WEEK IN DETROIT, I’M GOING TO HAVE ALSO SEPTEMBER AND HOUSTON AND ON AND ON. MY CAMPAIGN IS GOING TO BE HERE THE ENTIRE WAY.>>Chris: I WANT TO TALK ABOUT YOUR POLICY PROPOSAL AND AUTOMATION BUT JUST TO GET BACK TO THE DEBATE, ONE WAY THAT IS TRIED AND TRUE TO GET MORE ATTENTION AND AIRTIME IS TO GO AFTER THE FRONT RUNNERS. YOU’RE GOING TO BE ON THE STAGE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH TWO OF THE FRONT RUNNERS, VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN AND SENATOR HARRIS. ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT GOING AFTER THEM, ONE BECAUSE OF DIFFERENCES ON ISSUES AND TWO BECAUSE IT WILL GET YOU MORE ATTENTION?>>Mr. Yang: MY FOCUS IS ON SOLVING THE PROBLEMS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND TO THE EXTENT THAT I CAN DRIVE THE CONVERSATION TOWARDS THOSE ISSUES, I’M VERY, VERY EXCITED ABOUT IT. I DON’T THINK THAT WE BENEFIT IF I’M THROWING ROCKS AT OTHER CANDIDATES WHEN FRANKLY I AGREE WITH THEM ON MANY, MANY ISSUES. AND I THINK RIGHT NOW MY FOCUS REALLY IS ON STILL INTRODUCING MYSELF TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.>>Chris: ONE OF YOUR MAIN MESSAGES, WHICH YOU REFERRED TO A MOMENT AGO, IS TO SAY THIS COUNTRY IS GOING THROUGH A DRAMATIC ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION IN LARGE PART BECAUSE OF AUTOMATION AND YOU SAY THAT YOU WILL KEEP THE PROMISES TO WORKING-CLASS AMERICANS THAT PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS FAILED TO KEEP TO THEM. HERE YOU ARE IN THE FIRST DEBAT DEBATE.>>I CAN BUILD A MUCH BROADER COALITION TO BEAT DONALD TRUMP. IT IS NOT LEFT, IT IS NOT RIGHT, IT IS FORWARD, AND THAT IS WHERE I WILL TAKE THE COUNTRY IN 2020.>>Chris: YOU PROPOSE WHAT YOU CALL THE AMERICAN MALL ACT, LIKE SHOPPING MALL ACT WITH A $6 BILLION FUND. HOW WOULD THAT WORK?>>Mr. Yang: WELL, WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF AUTOMATING AWAY THE MOST COMMON JOBS IN THE U.S. ECONOMY WHICH INCLUDES RETAIL WORKER, CALL-CENTER WORKER, TRUCK DRIVER, FOOD SERVICE. THESE ARE THE JOBS THAT ARE DISAPPEARING AROUND THE COUNTRY AND UNFORTUNATELY THEY ARE ALSO THE MOST COMMON JOBS. THE AMAZON IS CLOSING 30% OF OUR MALLS AND STORES AND PLAYING ZERO IN TAXES WHILE DOING IT. AND THESE MALLS BECOME SINKHOLES. THEY CAUSE BLIGHT, BECOME HAVENS FOR CRIME AND BAD ACTION, SO WE NEED TO HELP COMMUNITIES TRANSITION THESE MALLS TO BECOME COMMUNITY CENTERS OR SCHOOLS OR EVEN RESIDENTIAL, BUT IN THE ABSENCE OF THAT KIND OF MOVE, THESE GHOST MALLS BECOME THE LAST PLACE ANYONE WANTS TO BE AND THEY DESTROY PROPERTY VALUE FOR MILES AROUND.>>Chris: BUT WHAT YOU DO IF AUTOMATION IS THE PROBLEM, WHAT YOU DO TO HELP THE WORKER WHO HAS SKILLS FOR AN EARLIER ERA TRANSITION AND GET A JOB IN THESE TIMES?>>Mr. Yang: THE FIRST BIG STEP IS WE NEED TO HAVE EVERYONE SHARE IN ALL OF THE GAINS FROM THIS PROGRESS AND INNOVATION. MY FLAGSHIP PROPOSAL OF FREEDOM DIVIDEND WOULD PUT $1,000 A MONTH INTO THE HANDS OF EVERY AMERICAN SO THAT IF YOU ARE — MALL CLOSES OR YOUR JOB GETS BLASTED AWAY YOU AT LEAST HAVE $12,000 A YEAR THAT HELPS TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF AND HELP YOU TRANSITION IN A BETTER DIRECTION.>>Chris: BUT ARE YOU BASICALLY ON YOUR OWN? IN OTHER WORDS, ARE YOU GOING TO PROVIDE RETRAINING PROGRAMS? ARE YOU BASICALLY SING HAS $12,000, HELP YOURSELF?>>Mr. Yang: WE CERTAINLY NEED TO INVEST IN THE RETRAINING OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, BUT WE ALSO HAVE TO BE HONEST THAT WE ARE TERRIBLE AT RETRAINING. THE SUCCESS RATES FOR FEDERALLY FUNDED RETRAINING PROGRAMS FOR THE DISPLACED MANUFACTURING WORKERS IN THE MIDWEST WERE BETWEEN ZERO AND 15%. AND PRETENDING THAT WE’RE SOMEHOW GOING TO BECOME EXCELLENT AT RETRAINING AMERICANS IS LYING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. I WAS JUST AT A TRUCK STOP IN IOWA. IF YOU WENT TO THOSE TRUCKERS AND SAID WE ARE GOING TO RETRAIN YOU TO BE CODERS OR ENGINEERS THEY WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE THEN SIGN UP, SO WE NEED TO PUT THE RESOURCES DIRECTLY INTO OUR HANDS, THE HANDS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. CERTAINLY WE NEED TO INVEST IN RETRAINING PROGRAMS BUT WE ALSO HAVE TO BE REALISTIC ABOUT WHAT WE CAN AND CAN’T ACCOMPLISH.>>Chris: OKAY, LET’S TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE CONCERNS ABOUT YOUR BIG PROGRAM, THE FREEDOM DIVIDEND, ALSO CALLED UNIVERSAL BREAKS OF INCOME. $1,000 A MONTH TO EVERY ADULT, EVERYBODY OVER 18 REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOUR JEFF BEZOS OR THE GUY ON THE STREET. $12,000 A YEAR. ESTIMATES ARE THAT YOUR PLAN WOULD COST ABOUT $3 TRILLION A YEAR. AND THE MAIN WAY YOU WOULD DO IT — YOU HAVE SOME OTHER METHODS, BUT YOUR MAIN WAY IS A VALUE-ADDED TAX, THE KIND OF SALES TAX THEY HAVE IN EUROPE, WHICH IS WHAT YOU SAY WOULD PAY FOR THIS. FIRST OF ALL, IT’S BASICALLY A SALES TAX, WHICH AS YOU KNOW IS ONE OF THE MORE REGRESSIVE ONES, AND SECONDLY, INDEPENDENT GROUPS LIKE THE TAX FOUNDATION SAY — THEY’VE LOOKED AT ALL OF YOUR PLANS — THEY SAY THAT YOUR NUMBERS DON’T ADD UP. THAT IN FACT WHAT YOU WOULD GET FROM ALL OF THIS IS LESS THAN $500 A MONTH PER PERSON, NOT A THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH PER PERSON.>>Mr. Yang: FIRST, THE HEADLINE COST IS MUCH LOWER THAN $3 TRILLION BECAUSE WE ARE ALREADY SPENDING OVER 1.5 TRILLION ON VARIOUS DIRECT INCOME SUPPORT PROGRAMS. BUT IF WE PUT A MECHANISM IN PLACE FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE A SLIVER OF EVERY AMAZON TRANSACTION — AND AGAIN, AMAZON IS A TRILLION DOLLAR TECH COMPANY THAT PAID ZERO IN TAXES LAST YEAR. IF WE GIVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE A SLIVER OF EVERY AMAZON TRANSACTION, EVERY GOOGLE SEARCH COME EVERY FACEBOOK AD, EVERY ROBOT TRUCK MILE, WE CAN GENERATE HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS IN NEW REVENUE AND THE GREAT THING IS WHEN WE PUT THIS DIVIDEND INTO YOUR HANDS, THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH, WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? THE MONEY GOES RIGHT BACK INTO LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN THE ECONOMY. IT GOES TO CAR REPAIRS AND DAY CARE IN LITTLE LEAGUE SIGN-UPS. ALL THE THINGS THAT MAKE US HEALTHIER AND STRONGER AND WOULD HELP CREATE MILLIONS OF JOBS AROUND THE COUNTRY.>>Chris: BUT I WANT TO PICK UP ON SOMETHING YOU JUST SAID. WHATEVER IT IS, WITH A TRILLION AND A HALF DOLLARS A YEAR IN MONEY TRANSFERS, THAT’S ONE OF THE CONCERNS, BECAUSE SOME CONSERVATIVES ARE SAYING WELL, LOOK, IF WE WERE GIVING EVERYBODY $12,000 A YEAR, WE COULD REPLACE THE WELFARE STATE. YEAH, EVERYBODY’S GOING TO GET THE ANDREW YANG FREEDOM DIVIDEND, BUT THEN THE CONSERVATIVES CAN DO AWAY WITH SOCIAL PROGRAMS THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE AT THE LOWER END OF THE INCOME SCALE DEPEND ON.>>Mr. Yang: WELL, MY PROGRAM IS UNIVERSAL, BUT IT’S OPT IN AND IF YOU OPT IN THEN YOU’D BE FORGOING BENEFITS FROM CERTAIN EXISTING PROGRAMS. SO THIS TO ME WOULD BE A WIN-WIN-WIN WHERE YOU HAVE THESE RESOURCES IN THE HANDS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. YOU DON’T HAVE RESTRICTIONS ON HOW PEOPLE SPEND IT AND YOU ALSO GET RID OF A LOT OF THE NEGATIVE INCENTIVES BECAUSE THE FACT IS A LOT OF THESE PROGRAMS GIVE YOU LESS IF YOU DO BETTER AND WOULD HAVE TO MAKE IT SO IF YOU DO BETTER YOU DO BETTER.>>Chris: FINAL QUESTION, AND THIS IS ANOTHER CONCERN PEOPLE HAVE, LOOK, WHEN YOU WORK, YOU GET MORE OUT OF IT THAN MONEY. YOU GET SELF-ESTEEM. YOU GET SOCIAL INTERACTION. DOES A LOT OF THINGS, AND SOME PEOPLE ARE CONCERNED THAT WITH YOUR, IN EFFECT, 12,000 A YEAR HANDOUT THAT YOUR DELINKING INCOME FROM ACTUALLY EARNING A LIVING.>>Mr. Yang: I’M ASIAN, SO YOU KNOW I LOVE TO WORK. YOU HAVE TO BE A LITTLE BIT BROADER ABOUT HOW YOU THINK ABOUT WORK. MY WIFE IS AT HOME WITH OUR TWO YOUNG BOYS, ONE OF WHOM HAS AUTISM. WHAT IS THE MARKET VALUE OF HER WORK AT RIGHT NOW? AT ZERO, AND WE KNOW THAT’S THE OPPOSITE THE TRUTH. WE KNOW THE WORK SHE’S DOING IS AMONG THE MOST CHALLENGING AND VITAL WORK. IN OUR SOCIETY. SO WE NEED TO THINK BIGGER ABOUT WHAT WE MEAN BY WORK. BUT MOST AMERICANS KNOW THAT PUTTING A BIT OF MONEY INTO YOUR HANDS IS GOING TO MAKE YOU WORK HARDER IN MANY CONTEXTS AND IT’S CERTAINLY NOT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO WORK AND SAY I’M GOING TO KICK BACK AND, BECAUSE A THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH IS NOT ENOUGH TO THRIVE IN ANY ENVIRONMENT.>>Chris: MR. YANG, THANK YOU, THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR WEEKEND AND YOUR IDEAS WITH US AND WE WILL BE TRACKING HOW MUCH TIME YOU ACTUALLY GET TO SPEAK IN THE DEBATE THIS WEEK.>>Mr. Yang: THANK YOU, CHRIS, HOPEFULLY I WILL SEE YOU IN DETROIT.

  1. You seem like such a sharp guy, but I think you need to spend more time in the streets of any urban city. Giving everyone $1,000 would be a complete disaster. Much would go to fuel drugs. I have 2 kids over 18 living with me so our family would get $4k a month. Exactly who would be giving us the money? I suspect my taxes would need to go up at least $8k a month as my income is over average. You can give your money away, but please don't make the rest of us. One idea you had was to get it from the big tech companies like Amazon. I assure you that I do not spend near $4k a month on Amazon and that would be revenue and not profit. I am sure you know the difference about profit and revenue, but your fellow Democratic rivals are thinking revenue and profit are the same because all the "revenue" the government collects is "profit".

  2. "We have to make it where if you do better, you do better"
Andrew Yang 46th President of the United States- 2019

  3. Wealth of a nation is the quantity of human minds that can think and do unbelievably staggering feet’s of success. Imagine a nation full of people like Steve Jobs. Let education and healthcare comes as default to every one in the country. You will see the magic of free thinking minds at work.

  4. A VAT (value added tax) is just a Tariff, but collected on the backend rather than the front end. The difference is it's a lot easier to manage on the front end as a Tariff instead.

  5. that's why yang will have a very hard time to be president. He can't wreck other candidates. That's one thing you have to do to get ahead especially during this part of the party nomination process.

  6. Also andrew has to remember one thing. as president you don't create the laws. congress creates the laws. president can only sign or veto it. Sure the president can help push or mention certain laws to congress but ultimately the president really has no say in what laws get passed by congress. So if congress shuts down the $1000 UBI program than Andrew Yang will just be a half lame duck president.

  7. Think about it this way: All the losers living in their parents' basements, playing video games right now aren't contributing to the economy at all. With $1,000 a month, it would allow them to get out & socialize, encourage economic activity in a free market way, and ease the burden of those footing the bill for them now.

How on Earth do people expect a single mother of 2 children to get off welfare, when a minumum wage job doesn't even pay enough to afford daycare in a lot of places?

Andrew Yang isn't stupid, and he isn't pandering for votes.

UBI is capitalism where you don't start at $0, and the alternative is an even larger welfare state in the near future with more hands in the till.

  8. If Congress eliminates all other social programs and puts it all into this, I could vote for it. Just the savings in bureaucracy reduction would make it worth it.

  9. Andrew sounds very well prepared and thought all aspects of his position over, rather than touting favorable blank promises, way to go, Andrew

  10. Yang is currently not the favorite in the DNC race, and I'm sure he'll face constant uphill battles with congress if he managed to get the presidency, but he has the best chance against Trump & help undo some of the injuries the party has done to itself. If the democrats & progressives on the left don't avail themselves of that opportunity I'm fairly confident they will spend the rest of the election cycle helping Trump win 4 more years.

  11. Yang did you know that Finland government collapsed? Your idea of giving
$$$ to people who didn´t work for it is stupid.

  12. i would like to see a democratic debate on fox. a non dnc-controlled network will be far fairer to andrew yang

  13. Hey Yang gang, did anyone hear your hero last night? "Andrew Yang says it’s already too late to stop climate change, and that it’s time for Americans to head for the hills." #1, Climate change is a hoax. #2. Yang is certifiable!

  14. So the idea is to give Americans $1000 a month, that has been have taken from Americans who earned it… The cognitive dissonance is shaking the very pillars of reality.

  15. I honestly still like Trump for 2020 but wouldn't be mad if this guy won it. Move forward. Not left, not right

  16. it's so weird, fox news treats this democrat so well. he really is the one to close the divide between left and right.

  17. 10:20 actually the DNC should let Fox host at least one debate for the sake of offering different perspectives.

  18. Yang is by far the best candidate for office we've had in a generation. If he's nominated he will bury Trump, and is in fact I believe the only Dem who will beat Trump. So if the Dems hate Donny as much as they act like they do, they'd be smart to nominate Yang.

They are as dumb as a box of hair and want to have their cake and eat it too, so they'll ignore/marginalize Yang as much as possible and probably nominate Biden, therefore guaranteeing Trump another four years.

The DNC really are Trump's best friends.

  19. im affraid he will just be ignored in the debates and drops off :/ It's the sad truth. He's just not big enough with the masses and the media isn't giving him a chance either. Someone like Sanders or Warren is probably gonna win.

  20. With the the loss of jobs through automation rises the job opportunities of programmers and technicians which, generally speaking, pay more than the jobs Yang just listed. Why don't you just promote free education for working class people working towards STEM degree or STEM based vocational jobs for increased pay. Oh that's right, because all politicians are panderers. They don't want to tell someone they'll have to work for something, because they're afraid they'll get less voters. It's much easier for the voters to hear, "free money".

  21. tulsi and yang! these two would bring intelligence, competence, honesty and people-priority back to the white house. something we havent seen since the early 60s.

  22. Thank you Fox News for giving Andrew Yang a respectful interview. The Democrats don't want him in their party. They don't give him any time and chop up his clips to make him sound like a thoughtless gimmick. The DNC even revoked one of his polls after he qualified for the next debate saying that the poll suddenly didn't count. He's serious though. If you look at his website he has the most policy proposals and a lot of them are very well thought out. If Yang somehow becomes the Democratic candidate, I'd vote for him.

  23. Honestly, it confuses me that Conservatives are so warm to Yang. His plan is textbook redistribution of wealth and I don't see why it makes any more sense or is any more fair than the ridiculous earned income credit program that Conservatives hate. And further, it confuses me that he takes credit for the current welfare state when doing his calculations for his Freedom Dividend. The only way that makes sense is if he wishes to abolish the entire welfare system and replace it. However later he goes on to say that you will be allowed to opt out of the Freedom Dividend in favor of the current welfare programs which implies that you will have to stack a sizeable fraction of the cost of that system on top of the Freedom Dividend.

I really think that his appeal is almost entirely that he doesn't sound like a politician and doesn't sound evil and power-hungry like almost all of the other candidates. Maybe it also has to do with how he never made his position on immigration clear or how he downplays his positions on healthcare and college-tuition costs.

Could someone please tell me why a Conservative should support Andrew Yang over other conservatives (ignoring the fact that the most popular Democrat candidates are all radical lunatics and Yang would probably be the least damaging and perhaps even good for the country). I'm open to hearing other opinions but it really confuses me how much Conservatives seem to like him, even though he is actually extremely far left on every position I have heard him speak about. Perhaps he is left-wing without the characteristic hatred of America and white people that makes him appealing…

  24. The Asian dude's supporters wear hats that say MATH on them?

Funny how certain racist stereotypes are fine…

  25. Yang is the Boaty McBoatface of Presidential Candidates. He is a meme. His supporters are being trolled while also being part of the trolling.

    And y'all call yourselves "Woke"?

  26. Only thing meaningful said was immigrants are scape goated for automation……… other stuff was just blah blah blah……… no substance, a lot of passion…….. just like barry………. his idea of society is based on STAR TREK………. basing his agenda on fictional sci – fi tv show……..

  27. Yang is by far the most reasonable Democrat (though a lot of his policies will short circuit the economy), but he lacks the people skills required to have charisma.

  28. Best democrat candidate by far, it’s too bad Trump will for sure take that spot again. I’ll vote for him in 2024 though!

  29. Joe Biden gets most of the votes because he's familiar. Dems are so quick to vote for Biden because he's the closest thing to a celebrity. They just want to fight Trump's popularity with Biden's celebrity. By all means just to win. As a Dem, I'd rather see Trump get a second term than vote for Biden. He's so weird, stop be blinded by left or right and vote appropriately. I wouldn't let Biden watch my kid, let alone put my country in his hands…

  30. Lol they are using Andrew Yang who they know won't be president to take cheap shots at the front runners. I absolutely hate the Democratic party but it isn't tough to tell what Chris Wallace is attempting here. 2:31

  31. Why not make the UBI effective upon graduation from High School, with an exemption for folks who are unable to because of disabilities, health issues or hardships like single motherhood or caring for an aging parent.

  32. Glad to see fox giving andrew a few minutes. I've never voted , But I think I may consider voting for him, and I would still consider it without his proposed $1k a month. We need politicians out to solve real Americans everyday problems. I think Mr Yang can atleast get that started.

  33. so whats the deal with fox? why do leftists cry so much about it? "fox lies" but they interview both sides, host both sides, ask fair questions, dont interrupt … and then we have huffpost, cnn, msnpc, vice, buzzfeed, salon, all sorts of authoritarian far left cringe opinion media sites, but fox is the bad one?

  34. Wallace brings up the good point about folks getting value out of work, but it wont be UBI that takes it away. If your job is automated away, then its the company that took that value away from you. Therefore, it becomes encumbent on folks to find value and meaning elsewhere or within themselves. You can't live off $12,000 UBI and decide you'll be lazy. UBI is merely an arm floatie, not a life preserver. You still largely need to swim and kick to get to where you need to go.

  35. Chris: "His supporters call themselves the YANG GANG".
Me: LOL, that's right grandpa. We are the Yang Gang, but don't worry we are all pretty nice 🙂

  36. Though I don’t really agree on the $1000 a year thing but he actually makes sense

  37. I'm a Republican and this guy make sense all around. He isn't a real Democrat. He is a real business man with real solutions to real problems. Andrew Yang is in it for ALL Americans unlike those other Democrats and Trump. That is why in the debates the liberal media gave him no air time. If Republicans want to have secure jobs and income, this is the guy to vote for. No joke.

  38. I like that he’s the only one talking about automation but 12k a month for someone that lost their job isn’t enough compensation to solve the problem. Trump will deny automation is happening like climate change, and will promise jobs…id love to see him get pressed on this correctly to hear his answers.

  39. Did anyone else notice Wallace call it the Andrew WANG dividend support program @820…lol…oops….great interview nonetheless…hope more people support this guy…best candidate for running the country

  40. I work 2 Jobs here in San Diego. I make roughly 55k a year. I would NOT stop working both jobs if I got an extra $1,000/month… it would make life much easier but wouldn’t change my work ethic.
